I read many people to say this, when they start diggin on quantitative finance (quants)

Well, for this, you only need to understand FACTOR INVESTING.

With a exposure to Nasdaq ETF or to his top 10 holdings (stocks) you can achieve your "goal" to outperform (%) the S&P500 (the market, the benchmark) :P

It looks good, but for ex-post leveraged beta you need the future to play out like the past.
