Curious if anyone here came into quant/trading from a non-traditional background.

Most people seem to come from math, CS, physics, engineering, finance, etc. I have my bachelor’s in philosophy, so I’m always interested in how different backgrounds shape the way people approach markets.

What was your path?

Investing is more than just quantitative methods (models, math, statistics, etc), and even more than the quantitative automation (bot) of your strategies with code (Python, C++, Rust, 'algo trading').

Youtube video: 'MIT Portfolio Management', base on the Harry Markowitz 'Modern Portfolio Theory' (the base line of all kind of quants)

I'm just mucking about with it my main thing is biotech. I don't plan to work for a qunat firm or try beating the market.
although there is a great overlap in the statistics and math with bioinfo.
